Our verdict
The mat that ends the scatter zone
Every litter box has a scatter zone — the metre of floor where tracked litter ends up. The LitterLock's double-layer honeycomb catches litter from the cat's paws as they step out, dropping it through the top layer onto the waterproof base. You fold the mat open and tip the trapped litter back in the box. Five seconds, done.
Why two layers matter
Single-layer mats trap litter on their surface, where the cat then sits in it and re-tracks. The double-layer design means the litter falls through and out of the cat's way — which is the whole reason this works where flat mats don't.
The softness test
A litter mat that's rough or sticky teaches the cat to jump over it, defeating the purpose. The LitterLock is soft enough that our test cats walked across it normally — and tracked nothing beyond it.
