When you buy through the retailer links on this site, we may earn an affiliate commission — the price you pay stays exactly the same. Commissions fund the products we buy at retail and the time we spend testing them with real pets. They never influence which product wins a comparison.

Do brands send you the products you recommend, or do you buy them?

We buy the vast majority of the products on this site at retail with our own money. Brands never see coverage early and cannot veto or preview a verdict. If a brand does send a sample for a first look, we say so on the page and we buy our own unit before a final recommendation.

Are the picks actually tested with real pets?

Yes. Every product we recommend has been lived with by one of our editors' pets — a senior lab, a busy border collie, a fussy Maine coon and a recently-adopted rescue among them. We test for fit, durability, washability and the one thing spec sheets never mention: whether the pet still uses it after a month.

Prices and availability are re-checked regularly, picks are revised whenever a meaningful product change or new competitor lands, and full guides are re-tested at least annually. If a product we once recommended is discontinued or surpassed, we remove it — even if the affiliate link still works.
