We are a research-driven review site, and we say so plainly: our verdicts are structured comparisons, not lab test reports. Each product is scored against a 9-point rubric covering the things that actually matter in daily life:

1. Materials and construction — what it's actually made of, and where cheap substitutions show up
2. Safety — recalls, small parts, chew-risk, material warnings and veterinary guidance
3. Fit and sizing — real sizing data, not marketing size charts
4. Maintenance — washability, filter or upkeep costs, and the honest chore load
5. Durability signals — failure patterns reported consistently across verified owner reviews
6. Real-world usability — what owners say after weeks of use, not day-one impressions
7. Value — price relative to the category, not 'cheapest wins'
8. Brand support — warranties, replacement parts, customer service track record
9. Availability — sizes, colors and variants actually in stock at major retailers

We don't write fictional 'my dog tested this for a month' stories. We don't copy Amazon star ratings or review counts. We don't accept payment for reviews, placements or sponsored rankings, and brands don't see our verdicts before you do. We don't display prices on this site, because prices change faster than any article can track — you'll always see the live one at the retailer.

Every verdict stands on the published research described above — and each review is written so you can re-trace the evidence yourself.

Rankings are comparative within a category: a dog bed is measured against dog beds. When two products tie on merit, the cheaper one is listed first — even when it pays us less.
